What you'll do

The Communications and Events Specialist plays an important role in developing and executing the commercial and supplier engagement strategy.


Working in a fast-paced and high-performing team, you will support our high-profile communications and events.


We want to ensure our suppliers are kept updated on our strategy and perceive Woolworths as their preferred trading partner.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Create engaging, credible, and actionable content that inspires and empowers Commercial team members and Woolworths’ suppliers. e.g. newsletters, interviews, videos, live streams, leadership messaging, and internal social media.
  • Write high-quality, clear and effective communications on behalf of our Commercial leaders.
  • Proofread communications developed by the team.
  • Interview suppliers and write engaging stories that showcase our strong partnerships.
  • Continually develop new and innovative ways to engage and inform audiences in physical, virtual and hybrid settings.
  • Build creative decks that simplify messages to a broad audience.
  • Support the Supplier Engagement Manager to deliver the events and engagement strategy. These activities include but are not limited to, Trade Shows, Supplier of the Year Awards, Category Updates, Town Halls, and Leaders' Offsites.

Commercial Cross-functional engagements

  • Develop strong partnerships with key business stakeholders including Supplier Engagement and Capability, Commercial, Store Operations, Marketing and Media teams.
  • Ensure content is on message with other group-wide communications and initiatives.
  • Support the broader Supplier Engagement and Capability Team where required.

What you'll bring

Although not essential, it would also be desirable if you had the following:

  • 5+ years experience in a communications role.
  • Highly collaborative
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast pace environment whilst being proactive
  • Excellent networking skills and the ability to identify the right stakeholders
  • Strong grasp of the English language - i.e. spelling and grammar
  • Excellent attention to detail but also able to see the cross-functional impact of decisions
  • Ability to create engaging and creative content via different channels and platforms (video, powerpoint, digital platforms)
  • Intermediate to advanced Google Workplace skills e.g Google Slides
  • Intermediate to advanced Canva skills
  • Confidence in dealing with senior executives - giving and accepting feedback
