The Opportunity

This exciting role reports to the Transport Planning Manager, and is responsible for successfully planning and executing safe, cost-effective transport movements from Woolworths Suppliers into Woolworths DC sites by leveraging our carrier network. Support the front-end team to provide a seamless experience for our suppliers and customers.

Utilising your leadership and great communication skills to work directly with your team to achieve high delivery standards. Bringing your passion for helping people experience a great end-to-end seamless experience. Primary Connect provides a reliable and convenient transport service from Supplier facilities to multiple Distribution Centres across Australia. Primary Connect contributes to more than 50% of the volume of Woolworths DCs. Also stepping up to the Transport Planner role gives you leadership exposure and experience.

The role

Utilising our relationships with internal Woolworths stakeholders, Suppliers and Carrier partners to deliver quality service and achieve our delivery in full and on time metrics. Working in a passionate and supportive team, time will be spent building and managing stakeholder relationships, as well as:

  • Performing daily transport planning activities in our Transport Management System (TMS)
  • Ensure On-Time Delivery (OTD) target is achieved at all times
  • Follow up and resolve manual exceptions and issues
  • Carry out preliminary Investigations of Carrier and Vendor transport claims
  • Escalate unresolved issues to the Transport Planning Manager
  • Ensure external and internal stakeholder expectations are met for transport movements
  • Communicate daily with replenishment, warehouses, vendors and transport carriers as required
  • Generate reports using TMS and other reporting systems
  • Monitor and follow up to ensure carriers and suppliers are adhering to Chain of Responsibility (COR) at all times
  • Manage transport planning for multiple lanes simultaneously

Who we’re looking for

Our Operations Team is currently seeking a highly motivated, passionate individual for the challenging role of Transport Planner. To be successful you will:

  • Have exposure to the transport & logistics industry (preferred)
  • Be experienced in working in a target-driven environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
  • Have a proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Have excellent systems and computer skills
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service
