The IOC (Integrated Operations Centre) Duty Manager leads the safe delivery of the daily train and coach timetable across our network while ensuring a coordinated response to day-of-operation incidents (including the real-time dissemination of safety-critical information to support decision-making) while supporting V/Line’s customer and safety charter within a complex and specialised control room environment.
You are part of the team that operates a 24/7 rotating roster (including weekends and public holidays) providing guidance, resources and support, engaging with external stakeholders as required to deliver divisional and functional initiatives.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Lead the shift IOC Team to ensure the best decisions are taken in relation to the safe delivery of the daily operations plan during disruptive events. The IOC Duty Manager coordinates activities with key operational, response and maintenance staff to minimise impacts of service interruptions, whil [MP2] st providing stakeholders with information to support effective decision making relating to network disruptions, including technical information relating to the train network operation.
- You will be required to create and maintain strong relationships with Senior Train Controllers, Fleet Controllers, Customer Controllers, Fault Management Centre Officers, Regional Managers and other key internal / external stakeholders to provide 24/7 direction, ensuring optimal operational delivery.
- Play an active role in the development, enhancement, implementation and monitoring of work systems and practices, particularly where new technology, service plans, rules and procedures are implemented.
- Ensure that teams responding to or supporting a disruption have the appropriate information to improve effective decision making, assist in co-ordinating emergency operations with field personnel, other departments and outside agencies.
About you
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Challenge ways of thinking to see things from different perspectives, anticipating potential operational problems and take control to correct them
- Strive to exceed performance expectations by identifying better ways of working, while holding yourself and others accountable to agreed outcomes [AR3]
- Transferable leadership experience within an emergency management, safety-critical communications or control room environment is highly desirable.
- A Certificate IV in Frontline Management is desirable, but not essential.
- Rail experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
