The Wellbeing Advisor is a crucial member of the University of Newcastle's Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS), responsible for delivering high-quality, customer-focused services that enhance the overall student experience and promote their well-being. This role involves being the initial point of contact for students seeking support and assistance across various aspects of their well-being. • Conducting comprehensive biopsychosocial-cultural assessments to understand and address a wide range of issues affecting students.
• Assessing and managing risk factors within the scope of practice, collaborating with both internal and external service providers as needed.
• Offering short-term case management and referring students to appropriate services within the University and the broader community.
• Ensuring timely scheduling of appointments and maintain efficient service delivery.
• Gathering and analysing feedback from key stakeholders to continuously improve service quality.
• Striving to meet the needs and expectations of students and other stakeholders.
• Maintaining professional registration and membership requirements.
• Providing expert advice, guidance, and recommendations on student support and well-being matters.
• Collaborating with students, staff, and external partners to ensure effective well-being solutions.

This Fixed Term is full time until the end of December 2023 with potential for extension at a HEW 7 Higher Education Level and will be based at Callaghan Campus.

About the Unit

The Student Wellbeing unit is tasked with ensuring that students have access to an integrated and coordinated program of support and risk management for non-academic matters. The focus of this unit is on proving health, wellbeing, and mental health services and support for students, along with support for AccessAbility and Equity initiatives to help students navigate a smooth and successful journey throughout their studies.
