About the Role

UGLs Manufacturing & Maintenance business are seeking an experienced Maintenance Team Leader/Planner to be based at our locomotive maintenance centre in Spotswood, VIC. This role will be offer on a permanent full time basis working on a 7 day fortnight rotating day shift roster, 10.5 hour shifts 6.00am – 4.30pm, this roster will include weekend work, and you will be directly supervising a mixed trades crew of Service Technicians.

The roles will focus on managing preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance on the EMD locomotive fleet which will predominantly based in Spotswood. The role calls for a considerable amount of planning to other locations such as subcontractors who provide maintenance support to the EMD fleet.

The role will be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, purposeful, efficient and profitable work environment by leading the service delivery team members to achieve planned safety, operational and financial objectives and to ensure that agreed production schedules and quality standards are achieved.

About You

  • Relevant Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Rolling Stock maintenance preferred however not essential.
  • Substantial trade experience 8-10yrs in a production/maintenance/engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
  • Proficient skills in computers\: MS Word, Excel, email.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering operational objectives.
  • Experience driving process and operational improvements.
  • Commercially aware of cost impacts and strong WIP /financial management skills.
  • Significant experience in developing and implementing operational improvement strategy.
  • Ability to build strong cross functional relationships and stakeholder management skills with internal and external Service Delivery teams.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and legislative requirements.
