We are looking for someone who is passionate about investor relations (IR) to join Thoughtworks and set up our investor relations function.

Reporting to the chief financial officer and chief marketing officer, the global head of investor relations will develop and execute on the investor relations vision and strategy and be solely responsible for the global investor relations function.

This individual will work as an advisor to executives and board members, managing the relationship and communications between Thoughtworks and its domestic and international shareholders. This role will lead and present alongside executive members for Thoughtworks’s earnings calls, fundraising, analyst correspondence and shareholder meetings.

The Global Head of Investor Relations will also act as a company spokesperson marketing and negotiating on behalf of the company to potential and existing investors, partners and key customers.

Job Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for Thoughtworks’ IR global program and managing our IR agency
  • You will set the vision for and develop Thoughtworks’ investor relations strategy and policies, implementing programs to keep the financial community current on company performance, as well as on impactful economic, political, competitor and industry trends
  • You will advise company management and the board of directors on financial and industry trends, shareholders potential and concerns and competitor actions that might impact the company
  • You will proactively expand Thoughtworks’ network of global investor relationships, directly as well as deepening existing investor relationships while identifying and cultivating prospective new investor relationships
  • Promote the continual articulation of Thoughtworks’ story to the investor community; attend key investor conferences and events and act as an articulate spokesperson for the company, exemplifying its values and vision
  • You will work with marketing and multiple functions across the business to develop Thoughtworks’s strategy, direction and narrative, presenting a persuasive corporate message to analysts, institutional investors and tailored communications to individual shareholders and partners
  • You will help drive the quarterly earnings results process and prepare content in partnership with the executive team and corporate communications
  • You will also lead the planning and execution of various investor events including investor days and analyst days as well as conduct pertinent follow-up
  • You will research, develop and provide metric-driven insights into the market and competitive landscape, enrolling key investors and influencing outcomes of key industry events
  • As part of the role you will also devise, lead and implement all internal and external investor relations’ activities including the flow of financial and other information between Thoughtworks, its current and potential shareholders and the financial community
  • You will also manage the budget for investor relations events and spending
  • You will also work with the head of external (SEC) reporting and legal to manage the creation and timely dissemination of all necessary securities documentation to current and potential investors
  • Should be comfortable interacting with the head of corporate strategy, understand the go-forward strategy, contribute on M&A considerations from an investor standpoint
  • Ability to process and synthesize M&A/corp development activity back to the investor base

Job qualifications

Technical skills

  • Masters’ degree in business, finance or economics preferred; bachelor’s degree in business, finance or economics required
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in investor relations, finance, FP&A and financial reporting required
  • Previous experience of setting up an investor relations function and program
  • Previous experience working for a financial consulting firm is a plus
  • Five years’ experience working in investor relations for a public company or institutional investment organization required
  • Preferably experience working for a public, high-growth, technology company
  • Five years’ experience in complex financial modeling and analysis including buy-side or sell-side experience

Professional skills

  • Must have a poised, professional and confident manner even under pressure with the ability to speak and persuade small and large groups including the general and financial community, acting in a fashion representative of our company
  • Must demonstrate ability to influence and negotiate with integrity in both domestic and international financial markets and executive level contributors
  • Must have the ability to develop and communicate company vision and direction, market and industry trends and explain complex financial results clearly and concisely
  • Knowledge of software and finance industries is required with the ability to quickly grasp and accurately respond to high-level and complex questions
  • This position will require international travel of up to 20% of the time to participate in board meetings, analyst relations and investor roadshows.

While we’ve traditionally been a traveling consultancy, travel is not required for this role at the moment. We anticipate the need for travel to our client locations in the future when it’s deemed safe.
