Editorial Insight Graduate Programme
Description
Are you a graduate with a thirst for data and want to join the newsroom of one of the world’s best media organisations?
The Telegraph is recruiting graduates who want to be part of our brilliant team. We want committed people who have a real passion for reader behaviour, audience growth and content promotion. The Editorial Insight Graduate will be trained on a rotational programme across various departments within editorial and beyond with a purpose of developing a well-rounded understanding of the newsroom, and using that knowledge to gather data, turn the data into insights and from there shape and refine our journalism.
This programme is designed to expose the Graduate to the core parts of our Newsroom, developing both editorial knowledge and technical skills. They will spend time working in each of the following areas, SEO, Newsletters, Community, Insights and Analytics, Homepage and Social Media. After completing this programme the Graduate will have the knowledge and experience needed to specialise within Editorial Insight and Analytics.
What to expect from each team:
- In SEO you will learn how we optimise our content for search engines, look at trends, but also pre-empt where there will be search and play an integral part in event planning. You’ll learn how to use Google Trends to research search volumes and interest, helping the team add on-page optimisation to articles
- The Newsletters desk is responsible for managing The Telegraph's portfolio of 40+ newsletters. Whilst working with the team you’ll learn how to curate articles for different audiences, contribute to the creation of newsletter products and make recommendations for newsletter performance
- The Community desk is focused on encouraging readers to share their views and experiences and to promote subscriber engagement and retention. Here you’ll learn which content generates the most engagement and how we use key metrics to optimise this
- In Insight and Analytics you will learn how we drive reader engagement, registrations and subscription through data-led insight, reporting and analysis. You’ll learn how to use Adobe analytics, existing reporting, google sheets and SQL to access and present editorial data on how readers are interacting with our content and monitor performance
- The Social Media team is an integral and creative part of our newsroom. Here you’ll learn how to post effectively across a host of different channels as well as experimenting with innovative modes of creative storytelling
- The homepage desk is responsible for editing and producing telegraph.co.uk and the Telegraph app. Whilst working here you will support the team to write effective and engaging headlines, and ensure that we give prominence to the right stories.
