We own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.

About the role

Band 5 –Salary starting from $138,000 (plus Super)

Tasmania is on a mission to double its renewable energy output by 2040, are you ready to support? With this, we have an opportunity for an experienced professional to bring their forward-thinking creativity and passion for renewable energy in Tasmania to the role of Senior Substation Engineer.

In this pivotal role, you will manage distribution and transmission substation and underground assets and systems. You will use a risk-based approach to develop asset management strategies and plans, produce technical documentation, identify and implement improvement opportunities and resolve emerging asset issues.

As a senior engineer, you will provide technical advice to TasNetworks, our customers and stakeholders. You will have the added benefit of coaching and mentoring our engineers, graduates and career revive participants.

About you

To be successful for this role, you will have electrical engineering and asset management experience and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical), with the ability to be registered on the National Engineering Register (NER) as a Professional Engineer.

You will possess a strong working knowledge of power system engineering principles, high voltage plant and equipment and contemporary electricity network maintenance practices, combined with a high degree of problem-solving, organisational and time management skills.
