About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Reading, London.
Salary: circa £33,000 UK + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Travel Requirements: as part of this role, you may be required to travel to another office location or relocate to another office for a period of time, depending on business need and in order to give you breadth of experience (covered by our expense policy). What is the Role?
As a Trainee Solicitor you'll support on some of the most exciting energy projects in the world, and we have up to 4 new opportunities for a Trainee Solicitor to join our General Counsel Team. Our bespoke training contract meets the requirements to complete a two-year, Law Society regulated, legal training contract.
From the moment you join you'll benefit from specialised training and be closely supported and mentored by our friendly team. We have a variety of specialisms within our team covering many areas of law such as: commercial, company, energy, property, construction, disputes and litigation, data protection, and competition and regulatory. Our four-seat training contract will provide you with exposure to diverse areas of law and working across the varied SSE businesses, as well as the opportunity to broaden your experience by spending your third seat with one of SSE's legal panel firms.
You'll provide legal advice and support to the SSE Group to ensure legal compliance, and help the group to understand, minimise and mitigate legal risks across its operations. You'll be involved in document drafting, conducting due diligence, property and consenting, disputes, projects client meetings and negotiation.
