About the role
Reporting to the Surface Services Superintendent, you will be responsible for the integrity of the Dry Rejects Emplacement Area (DREA), tailings storage facilities and wter storage dams at the Operation.
This is a permanent full-time position and a great opportunity to join South32 at Illawarra Metallurgical Coal.
Key accountabilities –
- Responsible for the safe construction & operation of the emplacement & water storage dams including contractor & budget management
- Responsible for structural integrity of the emplacement (tailings storage facility) and water storage bodies
- Responsible for liaising with the Engineer of Record (EoR) and other key stakeholders regarding design, construction and operation of the assets
- Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the assets and routine communication of results & data to the EoR
- Responsible for achieving and maintaining compliance with GISTM and Dam Safety Standard
- Civil projects onsite including roads and water storage pond rectification works
- Engineering guidance and support for civil assets across the site

To be considered for the role, you must have:
- Bachelor of Engineering – Civil, Geotechnical or qualifications and experience deemed equivalent.
- Experience in Civil earth works such as the design, construction, management or operations of bulk materials Experience working within or with a mining operations team is preferred.

Location
This position will be at the West Cliff Coal Preparation Plant which is in the southern coalfields of New South Wales, near the coastal city of Wollongong and approximately 75 kilometres south and southwest of Sydney.
