The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Scientist to be a part of our Engineering Services Branch within Roads and Maritime Service. This position plays a key role in providing investigations, analyses, interpretations and advice for geotechnical, pavements and materials aspects related to road infrastructure design, construction and maintenance and reports to Pavements and Geotechnical Manager.
Roads and Maritime provides agreed outcomes across the road and maritime networks within the context of an integrated transport strategy. The Engineering Services Branch provides expert technical knowledge and systems to support the management of the NSW road network. This includes roads, bridges, and related facilities with emphasis on the provision of technical advice to optimise all phases of network development, planning, design, construction and maintenance.
We are looking for a Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer who has demonstrated ability to undertake research, analyse complex issues use advanced problem solving skills and make balanced and ethical judgements and has experience in the provision of project management and earthworks specialist advice and the management of technical risk in infrastructure projects.

The salary for this position is USS 9-10 ($109,079 - $131,383) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
Essential requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in geology or related science/engineering discipline
- Proven experience in the provision of earthworks specialist advice and the management of technical risk in infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of WHS and environmental requirements for geotechnical fieldwork and site supervision
