Your opportunity:
Our Digital & Information group have an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager to lead the newly created Digital Programs department.
Digital & Information is responsible for digitally enabling Urban Utilities today and digitally transforming future capability to enable provision of digital services to our customers, community and people. The group is accountable to formulate and execute Urban Utilities’ digital & data strategy, deliver Urban Utilities digital portfolio and provide day-to-day operations of information technology (IT), operating technology (OT), data, and the Internet of Things (IOT), including security, infrastructure management, system administration, network operations, and support services.
Reporting to the Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO), the General Manager Digital Programs is accountable to lead the successful build, delivery and testing of Urban Utilities digital programs inclusive of all digital portfolio, digital transformation and service enhancements across information technology (IT), operating technology (OT), data, and Internet of Things (IOT) environments, ensuring exceptional digital service experiences are delivered to Urban Utilities people, functions and customers.
Leading a diverse team of professional and operational staff, this role is responsible to implement Urban Utilities digital and data strategy in a cost-effective way that optimises business outcomes, employee experience and minimises impact. You will do this through the delivery of high-quality digital transformation, technology programs and services that are reliable, resilient, and ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and critical outcomes.
In doing so you will develop and lead practice areas for digital portfolio, program, project and digital change management, including leadership of build, delivery and test teams. You will provide a leading digital capability that meets the expectations of our people and business. You will maintain and allocate a pool of highly capable, knowledgeable and outcome driven resources. You will ensure programs and projects are implemented efficiently and in a way that optimises benefits, equipping Urban Utilities with the digital services, security and infrastructure necessary to achieve our digital and data strategy and Urban Utilities critical outcomes.
Success in this role will be measured by how well digital transformation and solutions are delivered within time, cost and quality across Urban Utilities information technology (IT), operating technology (OT), data, and the Internet of Things (IOT) environments.
About you:
Bachelor's degree in Program/Project Management, Computer Science, Business/Management, or Engineering, with significant industry knowledge and experience.
A Master's degree or PRINCE2/PMBOK certification is advantageous.
Extensive proven experience in senior leadership roles, delivering complex, cross-functional organizational initiatives and programs aligned with strategic objectives.
Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with effective judgment and decision-making in dynamic environments.
High commercial acumen, business understanding, strategic thinking, and planning skills.
Proven success in quickly building collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of digital technologies across ICT, OT, data, and IoT domains.
Ability to foresee long-range trends and translate them into improved organizational outcomes
Significant demonstrated experience running a similar multi-function unit in a large organisation, ideally with a customer centric model. This in particular applies to these domains:
Proven success leading large multi-disciplinary teams (50+) and managing large projects ($5M+) and portfolios ($30M+).
Leading delivery teams operating under Agile and/ or Adaptive Project Management models.
Leading delivery teams operating under PRINCE-2 or PMBOK methodology.
Proven success in leading, managing and directing a team of professionals in the delivery of end-to-end solutions in a complex environment.
Performance of ‘on call’ duties are an inherent requirement of this role. This requires that the employee must be available to be on-call and to attend to work matters, both in person and remotely, outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as reasonably required to fulfill the requirements of the position. The days, times, duration and frequency of on call arrangements may be subject to change, including at short notice, as required by Urban Utilities’ operational needs as applying from time to time. At all times whilst on-call, you must be fit for duty, contactable, and able to respond, including the ability to physically attend if required, to the operational needs of the business within a reasonable timeframe and in a safe manner.
