Overview

QMAG Pty Limited is one of the world's largest producers of Deadburned, Electrofused and Calcined Magnesia for the global refractory and chemical markets. Magnesia is mined at our Kunwarara Operation; transported and further processed at our Parkhurst Site.

The purpose of the Management Accountant is to review, analyse, coordinate, and assist in the development of Business Unit Plans to contribute to strategies with the objective to attaining overall profitability, efficiency, business growth and continuous improvement in line with QMAG strategies., whilst also providing support for the Finance Team, Senior Leadership and Managing Directors.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Deliver month-end, forecasting and annual business plan activities
  • Drive site cost management, variance analysis and financial support for the mining operations
  • Participate and support in the preparation of detailed feasibility studies relating to acquisitions, dispositions, plant, product or market developments, plant or site restructuring or other issues related to future operations.
  • Assist in reviewing proposals for major capital expenditure to ensure compliance
  • Developing and maintaining communication practices to ensure Business Unit Management Teams have the required information to make informed decisions in line with QMAG’s Business Objectives and policies whilst maintaining high levels of confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with other Refratechnik and Business Unit Management Teams to optimize the performance of the business unit

Requirements

Applicants who possess the following will be considered:

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualification in an appropriate degree in accounting
  • 2- 5 years practical financial and management accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) qualified or actively working towards the qualification.

Highly Desirable

  • SAP
  • Advanced user of MS Excel
  • Microsoft Access skills
  • BI Experience
