About the role

Reporting to the Senior Auditing Officer, the Audit Officer role is centred around supporting the execution of the internal and external audit program and related administrative functions. You will be liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders across the Maintenance and Engineering teams as well as external providers, reviewing procedures and documentation including training records, maintenance and non-compliance reports and assist with developing detailed audit outcomes and recommendations reports. This role will require you to travel to both local and interstate Pacific National sites as per the audit schedule.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to the Senior Audit officer in developing an annual internal audit program to audit the internal workshops, terminals, external contractors and suppliers to Pacific National procedures and policies.
  • Conduct end to end internal audits individually or as part of a team with a risk focus under minimal supervision
  • Assist with audit and risk-related business process and improvements
  • Prepare and collate reports on audit outcomes and provide advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding outcomes
  • Build and maintain effective relationships whist working closing with senior team members

About your experience

To be successful in this role, you will have rail industry experience with the desire to expand your skill set across to Auditing. High-level communication skills and strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills are integral to succeed in this role. You will need to demonstrate proven relationship management strengths, with clear evidence of your ability to influence and build successful stakeholder relationships.

In addition, ideal applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven background in Auditing and relevant qualifications - Lead Auditor in Quality Management Systems ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 19011:2018.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction, determine priorities and manage workloads to meet agreed timelines and objectives
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills including negotiation, facilitation and influencing
  • Strong planning and coordination skills
  • Ability to undertake travel to various sites as required
