Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud.  Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. Responsibilities

The Datacenter Engineering Global BIM Program Manager will be responsible for managing and progressing the development of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter BIM program. This role will be instrumental in leveraging BIM in designing the most cost-effective and sustainable data centers in the world. This includes defining, advancing, and supporting new BIM technology on projects from pre-programming through design development, construction and ultimately, turnover to Operations. The successful candidate will be able to meet or exceed in delivering the following responsibilities and qualifications:

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage and continually improve Microsoft’s existing BIM program.
  • Evaluate, implement, and roll out the latest BIM software and digital technologies.
  • Work cross functionally with multiple internal stakeholders to deliver and continually improve Microsoft’s overall BIM strategy.
  • Implement BIM tools and systems for communication, logistics, process automation and facilitating collaboration.
  • Provide BIM training opportunities for SME learning and development.
  • Deliver projects aligned with defined scopes, schedules and budgets.
  • Provide oversight of and give business and technical guidance for BIM consultants and vendors.
  • Provide consistent and strong project leadership with excellent communication, and with a high level of organization.
  • Effectively work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment and facilitate cross-group collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Exhibit personal integrity with a methodical and detail-oriented work ethic.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional and/or academic experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mission critical projects (Datacenters, Laboratories and/or Micro-Electronics projects or similar).
  • Expertise in sustainability strategy and leveraging BIM processes and data to advance sustainability and embodied carbon reductions across a global technical infrastructure program.
  • Strong expertise in commercial and industrial projects with a primary focus on datacenter design.
  • Deep understanding of prefabricated construction techniques, logistics optimization and project controls.
  • Highly skilled in project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to write, speak, and present information effectively and persuasively.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to lead and be proactive.
  • Excellent problem-solving, judgment, team building, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience using MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, and Excel including effective reporting/presentations of project information.
  • Experience using CAD, BIM software and technologies – AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, Tekla, Sketchup preferred.

  • Microsoft Cloud Screen Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Screen background check upon hire/transfer and every two years after that while in this role.
