As we drive to be the leading cloud platform in the world, Azure Global Expansion Engineering team is hiring an exceptional Lead Project Manager to support our National Cloud Operated Entity expansions and help accelerate our most strategic government customers’ adoption of Microsoft Azure by connecting our technical experience, along with our customers’ vision and challenges directly to the engineering product teams, and as a result help to ensure Azure is the most compelling solution on the market.

This is a rare, exciting opportunity for an outstanding business and project leader to envision and execute all growth aspects of a new, global initiative within Microsoft Azure Global Expansion Team (GET). This Microsoft Lead Principal Project Manager will have an amazing opportunity to personally contribute to creating strategic partnerships in industry and drive enterprise scale long-term revenue growth globally. The position requires seasoned understanding of strategic partnership development and ability to create an enterprise-wide standard for setting up business and product environment for unique cloud implementation. To architect this vision and execute it flawlessly, Project Management of Strategy and Planning will:


  • formulate business engagement and negotiation plans and levers; due to complexities inherent to the product lifecycle of a unique cloud. This aspect of the work-statement will require novel thinking and a need to accurately anticipate future product adaptations and cloud expansions
  • communicate with and navigate around large international entities, including local and regional ecosystems
  • have executive presence when collaborating between many internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful implementations.
  • This role will work closely with engineering, product management, operations, legal, marketing, and sales teams—both within Microsoft and partner organizations.


This position will require first-pass quality in influencing and partnering with all levels of executive management.

Responsibilities

Who you are:


  • Experience defining strategic offerings related to product and or business architecture, as an individual contributor and/or an organizational leader
  • Familiar with the technology and business dynamics of cloud computing, and thus able to influence multiple functional stakeholders
  • Experienced with the Microsoft product and partner ecosystem
  • Strong business problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail
  • Robust collaborative program and project management skills inclusive of developing and tracking large, complex, cross-functional efforts through completion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills inclusive of the ability to produce compelling visualization of complex technical concepts and business processes as well as create and pitch compelling written content to gain buy-in from stakeholders
  • Able to multi-task and project manage many tasks simultaneously requiring frequent context switching

What you will do:


  • Partner with engineering, operations, legal, marketing, and sales teams to create and execute a plan to launch and operate a sovereign cloud.
  • Ensure the right parties are involved in developing and executing an operating model and the series of milestones to validate operational readiness for our operating entity partners
  • Highlight strategic opportunities, identify competitive strengths and weaknesses, and drive optimization models to improve effectiveness in partnership with the NCOE
  • Plan for long-term success through cross-functional collaboration and alignment by influencing stakeholders and executing contract terms to formalize spirit and intent in agreements
  • Manage contract enforcement and own commercial discussions with partner entities; ensuring that our NCOE partners is executing against the final agreements and escalating where there is risk that cannot be mitigated.
  • Influence technical teams to ensure system design recommendations are implemented effectively for the components of the technical solutions that support and enable the NCOE business (e.g. Commerce, Marketplace).
  • Identify metrics to assess progress, land those metrics through cross-team org, then leverage them to drive a successful partnership

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


  • 8+ years’ experience working in or with product management and engineering teams
  • 8+ years’ experience in management consulting or equivalent
  • Proven track record of building deep business relationships with senior executives in large or highly strategic accounts
  • Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through with exceptional verbal and written communication

Desired Attributes

  • MBA strongly preferred

  • 6+ years demonstrated experience influencing cross-organizational culture and job tactics changes: being able to indirectly influence people not on our team is the key success factor in this role
  • Demonstrated history of working in Government and commercial space at the business decision maker CxO/board level

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, innovation, and the ability to motivate, inspire, and lead cross group/functional teams with a high degree of independence and success

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and act on joint value propositions, and business cases around strategic partnerships
  • Building long-term relationships and key influencers
  • Comfortable working across cultures and geographies as part of a large, matrixed team
  • Created a scalable program within an organization that requires buy-in and action from different business units

  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Microsoft partner ecosystem, including how to measure and incentivize their success
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences
  • Experience negotiation complex contracts terms to mitigate risk in partnerships
