This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to help shape the future of Western Australia’s road infrastructure. As a Principal Network Planning and Development Officer at Main Roads WA, you will play a pivotal role in the strategic planning of the State’s road network, influencing decisions that impact both metropolitan and regional communities.
In this role, you will lead the identification of gaps and deficiencies in the existing road network and develop forward-thinking strategies to support the future expansion, efficiency, and resilience of key transport routes. You’ll work across a range of strategic planning initiatives, including network performance reviews, and infrastructure planning frameworks, with a focus on delivering outcomes that align with population growth, economic development, and regional accessibility.
You will provide high-level advice and direction to senior stakeholders, contribute to the planning of major State Government road initiatives, and help shape the development of policy, processes, and systems that guide long-term investment in road infrastructure.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and strategic road network planner who brings:
- Proven experience in the planning, coordination, and management of strategic road network reviews.
- Strong understanding of transport infrastructure planning principles, including transport modelling, network development, route optimisation, and long-term investment strategies.
- A track record of contributing to major planning initiatives and infrastructure programs.
You’ll also be an excellent communicator who is confident engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, planners, government agencies, and community representatives. Your ability to influence, collaborate, and work across multidisciplinary teams will be key to your success in this role.
