Job Description Summary

Drives quality throughout the change lifecycle whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their team. Sets the strategic direction & best practice for QE for the lab. Undertakes multiple types of testing of complex code to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect, based on deep domain and technical expertise. They will be an advocate for Quality Engineering, providing a voice to Quality Engineers within the team, identifying and supporting their teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing themselves with industry best practice and tooling. In a leadership role with a passion for mentoring and coaching people in a "player-coach" model.

Test Manager – Commercial

Lloyds Banking Group, Business & Commercial Banking, Group Transformation,

Location: London with flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week once we return to a normal working pattern post-COVID.

Salary & Benefits: £61,176.00 - £76,470.00 GBP base salary plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

About the role

We’re just starting a large transformational project to redesign and redevelop our Credit processes and applications. This role will sit within he Origination Value Stream which is one of 3 Value Streams within Commercial and Business Banking Transformation

As Test Manager you will be responsible for leading the testing of the new application suite to deliver a world class technical solution using modern technologies and tools. We’re looking for someone who will drive quality throughout the change lifecycle whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their team.

As Test Manager you will also set the strategic direction & best practice for Quality Engineering within the lab/team. You will undertake multiple types of testing of complex code to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect, based on your deep domain and technical expertise. This is a leadership role with a passion for mentoring and coaching people in a "player-coach" model.


What we're looking for:

We like people who come from diverse cultural backgrounds, with different ways of thinking who can challenge our current practices. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about technology and its application to real-world problems. That said, because of the nature of this role it is important to have a background where you have carried out a similar role previously, either in software engineering where the focus was on testing or as a test engineer who has learnt to code and automate scripts..

As a minimum to apply you should have:

  • A proven track record of testing and delivering complex integrated solutions involving 3rd parties
  • Been responsible for the delivery and definition of a test strategy, including the planning and execution
  • Experienced in Data Reconciliation Testing
  • Experienced with testing Microservices & APIs
  • Lead production of high quality, insightful management information on control effectiveness
  • In depth knowledge of the Microsoft Environment
  • Strong background in writing automated test scripts
  • Working knowledge of IT Security / Data security / Compliance standards within a financial institution.
  • A working knowledge of agile would be beneficial, however technical and people leadership skills are essential to ensure successful outcomes are delivered as part of the wider squad/virtual team.
  • Essential to the success of the role will be the ability to engage multiple stakeholders, to gain advocacy and cooperation to enable a successful outcome to be delivered.
  • Experience of leading and mentoring teams to test and deliver high quality technical solutions
