The Securities Services business sits within the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) and offers three complementary services: Custody, which provides safekeeping, settlement, asset servicing and trustee services; Fund Services, which provides accounting and administration services along with post trade compliance and portfolio reporting; and Liquidity & Trading Services which offers cash, foreign exchange (FX), collateral management, securities finance and depository receipts services.
This role sits within the front office Controls Management team in Bournemouth (London also considered), supporting the Securities Services business and will focus primarily on driving and supporting the business on the CASS agenda. The individual will act as the risk and controls expert responsible for managing the end to end control environment and spanning all of the primary functions from business execution to operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted CASS advisor for Securities Services
- Represent Securities Services interests with regulatory initiatives
- Execute and implement business controls priorities and strategy
- Manage Control and Risk governance implementation and reporting
- Facilitator of full business control governance
- Timely review/submission and approval at a LOB level monthly CMARs
- Policy development, review, and implementation – partner with Compliance, Risk, Legal, Operations and other functional stakeholders to ensure regulatory and best practice obligations are appropriately discharged
- Documentation and implementation of control framework/processes in conjunction with functional partners on CASS Breach identification/remediation
- Identify and remediate control gaps either directly, or in partnership with functional partners
- Monitor and track errors and develop trend analysis for CASS Breaches and Control Observations
- Support Annual external CASS Statutory Audit and preparation for Internal audit and Compliance CASS related audits and/or CASS related items
The Controls Management team is fungible and collaborates closely to cover the full range of Securities Services products and topics including, but not limited to:
- Acting as trusted front office control advisors
- Representing front office interests vis-a-vis control/regulatory initiatives and requirements
- Executing and implementing business control priorities and strategy
- Leading front office supervisory management and execution
- Managing control and risk governance implementation and reporting
- Representing the global control management organisation with relevant senior business and functional leads
- Documenting and implementing control framework/processes in conjunction with functional partners
- Identifying and remediating control gaps either directly, or in partnership with functional partners
- Monitoring and tracking errors and developing trend analysis
- Preparing for internal and external regulatory & control meetings/reviews/audits
- Organising and directing control and risk initiatives
- Supporting issue management – ensuring consistent structure and control across the business, with clear tracking and visibility of issues through to closure.
The BCM team interacts with multiple lines of business and corporate functions and the individual needs to be able to partner effectively with senior executives of the business. The individual will need to establish very strong relationships with the lines of business and partners and develop a deep understanding of the business, its control challenges, the architecture and products.
The candidate should be interested in working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, participating in key initiatives and becoming involved in a diverse set of issues that will have a direct impact on the organization.
Your background/core skills:
- Extensive experience in Securities Services with a solid understanding of the Securities Services products.
- The ability to think strategically and partner with diverse teams to drive efficiency and process enhancement.
- A good understanding of controls and how to apply them to different processes and businesses
- Strong analytical, problem solving & process re-engineering skills.
- Process mapping/reengineering experience.
- Strong organizational skills – ability to manage & prioritize multiple tasks across different time horizons within deadlines.
- Ability to deal with issues on a global, cross-business level.
- Ability to question and probe activity/functions within Securities Services across Operations, Technology, Product and other functions.
- Excellent project management skills; oral and written communication skills;
- A background or knowledge of CASS and MIFID obligations would be beneficial
- Proficiency in core office desktop technology, e.g. MS Office applications
