Introduction to the role
We’re seeking a strategic and execution-focused Director, Digital Creative to lead the development of scaled, digital-first content across Expedia Group. This leader will manage a team of digital campaign managers, creatives, and designers who create high-performing, always-on creative across key digital touchpoints—driving engagement, performance, and brand consistency.
Reporting to the VP, Creative Lab, you’ll play a central role in evolving our creative delivery model, enhancing team agility, and enabling smarter, more efficient creative through innovation, technology, and strategic agency partnerships.
Team Mission
We deliver scaled, digital-first business-as-usual content across the Expedia Group in partnership with external agencies and integrated agile teams. We ensure every initiative is strategically developed and tailored to the brand and channel it supports, powered by smart innovation.
Focus Areas
- Leading a new agile creative working model that enhances speed, collaboration, and impact across internal and agency teams
- Delivering always-on social creative (organic and paid) aligned to brand voice and platform best practices
- Creating performance-optimized digital assets for Growth Marketing including display, paid social, paid app, and ASO (App Store Optimization)
- Producing BAU creative for Media Innovation, including high-impact placements like Netflix and Amazon
In this role, you will focus on;
- Creative Strategy & Development
Own the end-to-end creative development for BAU digital channels—ensuring assets are channel-native, performance-driven, and strategically aligned.
- Team Leadership
Manage and develop a globally distributed team of digital campaign managers, creatives and designers. Foster a collaborative, agile, and results-oriented culture.
- Creative Briefing & Planning
Oversee the development of clear, data-informed creative briefs in partnership with channel leads, agencies, and marketing teams.
- Operational Efficiency
Drive adoption of tech-enabled creative production tools and templating systems that scale output while maintaining brand integrity.
- Partnership & Collaboration
Serve as a key liaison between internal marketing stakeholders, growth teams, and external creative agencies. Ensure smooth handoffs and effective feedback cycles within the agile operating model.
- Resourcing and Operations
Owning team resourcing, scoping and capacity planning in partnership with agencies and campaign managers.
- Best Practices & Guidelines
Create and maintain creative strategy documentation, channel-specific guidelines, and playbooks to standardize excellence and accelerate production.
- Performance & Optimization
Champion a test-and-learn culture through experimentation, data-driven iteration, and continuous refinement of creative based on performance metrics.
Experience and Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of experience in digital creative leadership within in-house, performance marketing, or agency environments
- Proven ability to lead creative development across paid digital channels—especially display, paid social, CRM, and app ecosystems
- Demonstrated ability to translate data and insights into high-performing creative strategies
- Hands-on experience managing or partnering with creative agencies in agile working models
- Deep understanding of performance marketing principles, digital media innovation, and platform-specific best practices
- Familiarity with scalable production workflows and creative automation tools
- Strong people management skills and a proven ability to build high-performing teams
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities across cross-functional teams
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
