Immigration Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Immigration Specialist who is passionate about assisting employees grow their careers beyond current borders to join our team. Based in our Seattle HQ office and part of a centralized Immigrations team, you will be responsible for guiding People Team, employees and managers on immigration policies and procedures for the North American region. Actively identifying process improvements focusing on employee experience, maintaining a pulse on immigration legislation, and providing direction as the subject matter expert on immigrant and non-immigrant matters. Additionally, you will assist with global immigration on an as-needed basis across EMEA and APAC and participate in special projects.
What you'll do:
Provide support and direction to hiring managers, employees and recruiters on immigration processes and the end-to-end immigration life cycle
Initiate Immigrant and Non-Immigrant case work with Expedia Group’s Immigration vendor
Assist Employees and the Business with all phases of the H-1B, L-1, TN, F1as well as the Green card application processes
Support and coordinate the H1B CAP process with managers and Immigration vendor
Work closely with Expedia’s Mobility team on Immigration cases that also needs Mobility support
Assist with US Immigration related work on a day-to-day basis
Initiate extensions and ensure timely filing of the applications
Support PERM filing process for employees.
Provide outstanding first-line immigration service; ensure queries in the Case management system are responded to in a timely manner and meets the needs of the customer
Provide immigration training to internal partners
Coordinate with Immigration vendor on cases and all US Immigration related matters
Partner with our People Team and external counsel to continuously improve our internal processes and immigration program
Maintain a compliant and organized filing system for immigration-related documentation
Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting
Build and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve operational efficiency
Support Immigration team with any project work
Actively participate with sharing knowledge and findings
This role is ideal for an individual who is multifaceted, ambitious and results orientated
Who you are:
5+ years of US immigration experience
Experienced working in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment
In-depth understanding of US immigration regulations and US CIS, State Dept. and Dept. of Labor processes
Experience with effectively collaborating across functional areas and exposure to global offices to ensure that immigration initiatives align as appropriate across the broader organization
Experience working with HR Information Systems (Workday, Service Now, etc.) and case management software
Strong organizational and project management skills with high attention to detail
Able to work independently and collaboratively with the team, and has a bias-to-action, data driven approach to work; willingness to go above and beyond to help the team
Eloquent and fluent communicator
Collaborating and working well together with others, ability to establish relationships at all levels
Sound working knowledge of MS Office, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
Canadian and LATAM immigration experience a plus.
