The opportunity
We are looking for a Manager/Associate Director to join our Transaction, Strategy and Execution (Financial Services) team in our Sydney or Melbourne office. This is a key leadership role across both geographies.
Transaction Strategy and Execution (FSO TSE) is a dedicated team within EY’s Strategy and Transactions division that helps Financial Services clients from the strategic analysis phase of the transaction lifecycle, through to deal execution, and transaction integration. The goal is to help EY clients achieve their best capital performance, deliver value to their stakeholders and meet their strategic objectives.
We cover a wide range of operational aspects in a transaction, including synergy assessments, separation readiness and support, operational due diligence and supporting the integration or separation process. Your key responsibilities
- Lead client engagement teams to execute acquisitions and/or divestments
- Demonstrate knowledge of all phases and aspects of practice across due diligence, integrations carve-outs, and other types of transaction engagements
- Demonstrate strong transaction and operational knowledge in Financial Services (i.e. across Banking, Wealth, Insurance, FinTech or Private Equity)
- Lead business development initiatives including sales proposals, scoping of projects, commercial negotiations and securing engagement approval from clients
- Provide leadership in fostering an open and inclusive and purpose-led environment - including effectively leading and motivating teams with diverse skills and backgrounds
Skills and attributes for success
- Experience - Strong track record in management consulting or M&A, preferably within the Financial Services sector. This includes operational due diligence, synergy identification & assessment, post-merger integration or carve-out support and benefits realisation
- Leadership – lead client/EY project teams across the full engagement lifecycle, managing engagement risk and monitoring quality in respect of client requirements and deliverables
- Outcome focused – ability to deal with ambiguous challenges and work with assumptions to drive through to solutions on challenging transaction situations in a fast-paced environment to drive client value
- Grow the practice – facilitate client pursuits, including presentations and client meetings. Contribute to our practice development initiatives, supporting the continued focus on our team as a great place to work
Ideally, you’ll also have
- A bachelor's degree and minimum 7 years of related work experience
- Experience in M&A integrations and divestments
- Experience in financial services sector (Banking, Wealth, Insurance)
- Adept at building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and senior clients, including influence, advice and support to key decision makers
