This is an opportunity for an innovative and visionary executive to lead and empower the department’s Consumer Protection Division
This opportunity is a Senior Executive Service (SES) role for a fixed term, full-time appointment for up to five (5) years.

Within the Industry Regulation and Consumer Protection Group, the Consumer Protection Division is responsible for ensuring consumer rights are protected through the regulation of property, retail and services industries, including the registration of charities and associations and provision of dispute resolution mechanisms for consumers.

About the role
The Executive Director Consumer Protection provides leadership by actively promoting strategies, policies, and systems that provide a strategic direction for the Division. This role involves providing guidance to the Director General and Corporate Executive, ensuring the protection of consumer rights in various industries.
The position also holds the statutory duties and functions of the Commissioner for Consumer Protection pursuant to the Fair Trading Act 2010 and the Prices Commissioner pursuant to the Petroleum Products Pricing Act. The role plays a crucial part in shaping national and local policy, fostering strategic partnerships, and leading consumer protection initiatives. Additionally, this position serves as the primary media spokesperson for Consumer Protection, representing the Department and the WA State Government on relevant boards and committees.
This position is located at 140 William Street in Perth CBD.
