The position
As Principal Legal Officer, you will provide a specialist service to the project teams within the Energy Policy WA Group, providing expert legal advice on energy sector matters, coordinating the procurement of legal services and managing and facilitating processes for the production and proclamation of robust and effective legislation.
Reporting to the Deputy Director General, you will provide independent legal advice on a range of complex and sensitive matters and exercise professional judgement. You will draft legislation and amendments and assist in the development and execution of implementation plans for new legislation, regulations and codes.
This position is located in Perth CBD.

What are we looking for?

- Degree in Law; AND admitted or eligible to be admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia; OR a legal practitioner from outside Western Australia whose qualifications for admission in Western Australia have been approved by the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia.
- Demonstrate your experience and interest in energy matters across the Western Australian electricity and gas sectors.
