About the role
As the Range and Space Manager in the Merchandise Strategy and Transformation team, you’ll be part of a 12-month project team in this secondment opportunity. Your primary objective will be to lead and support strategic Range & Space initiatives, delivering our strategy of landing the right range in the right store, enhancing the customer experience, supporting sales and improving store efficiencies.
What you’ll be doing
Working closely with our category teams to champion range selection through our range review process, you’ll be key to landing innovative range trials in store as part of a large strategic initiative. This dynamic role will see you interacting with all levels of the business, including strong relationship building with senior management, as well as our Digital teams. The stakeholders are many and the pace is fast, providing you with the ability to demonstrate your project and stakeholder management skills.
You’ll also:
- Lead proof of concept work aligned to the Coles strategy, in particular driving range localisation, productivity efficiencies and store specific planogram outcomes.
- Develop and maintain efficient and effective layouts that support’s Coles 800+ store network based on demographic and local needs.
- Working closely with our Data Science and Digital teams to build long-term solutions.
- Identify capability gaps, develop and provide tailored training solutions to range and space planners, including supporting tools and materials.
- Identify opportunities for improvements and implement changes.
- Provide process governance, escalate issues in a timely manner and ensure decisions are aligned to business strategy.
- Provide advice on process development, analytics, SME functions.
Good things you’ll need
- Experience in operating technical shelf and/or floor planning software at a high level with an understanding of store and layout design.
- Software experience in JDA/Blue Yonder's 'Planogram Generator' is advantageous.
- Experience working with customer and market insights is advantageous.
- Experience in using large datasets, with the ability to analyse and determine performance to drive business outcomes.
- A strong understanding of product adjacency in a retail setting.
- Excellent planning and organisational abilities as well as strong people skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Proficient Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Autonomous and proactive approach.
- A genuine passion for retail and a genuine desire to see your work come to life for our customers in stores.
