About the Role

BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is a world-class business, built on the strengths of BHP Billiton and Mitsubishi. BMA is part of the world's largest diversified resources company managing various mines and a port in Central Queensland. These opportunities are located at our Blackwater Open Cut Mine, located in Central Queensland on a Lifestyle Roster. Blackwater mine is an open cut coal mine, which has one of the largest coal reserves in Australia and the world.

We are currently recruiting Multi Skilled and CHPP Operators for upcoming opportunities at Blackwater Mine on a Lifestyle roster or 7/7 straight days/ nights.

The successful candidates will be able to operate safely and are confident with at least two of the following equipment options:

• Haul Truck (CAT 793, KOM 830, KOM 930 or KRESS)
• Electric rope shovel - CAT 7495/ P&H 4100
• Excavator - Leibherr 9800/ CAT 6060/ CAT 6040/ CAT 6030/ Komatsu PC1250
• Loaders – Komatsu WA1200/ CAT 966G/ CAT 988K
• Dozers CAT D11 R/T & D10 R/T
• Wheel Dozer CAT 854G
• Cable realer CAT 988G
• Graders – CAT 18M/ 24M
• Water trucks – CAT 785D/ CAT 789D
• Service truck – CAT 775F/ Tatra T815/ HINO
• Float CAT 777 Bosich Tow Truck/ CAT 797 Prime Mover/ CAT 793 Tow Truck
• CHPP Train Loadout and RII Skills

In addition to an overriding commitment to safety, essential requirements of the role include:

• Demonstrated commitment to ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace including willingness to maintain high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with site procedures
• A sound technical knowledge and experience in equipment operation
• Continuous improvement mindset and aptitude to learn and acquire new digital and technological skills
• Willingness to proactively contribute ideas to solve problems and improve existing processes and tools.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

• A high commitment to safety, quality and attention to detail and procedure
• 2 years’ minimum operating experience on large excavators or dozers
• Effective listening and well-developed interpersonal skills
• Have a strong work ethic and be enthusiastic about your role
• Take ownership and accountability of your work area and maintain high standards
• A teamwork mentality to achieve result
• Willingness to learn and be proficient in fleet management systems
• Experience operating Cat Terrain or Command applications or other fleet management and GPS guidance systems will be highly regarded

On 18th October 2023, BHP announced that BHP and Mitsubishi Development have agreed to divest the Blackwater and Daunia mines to Whitehaven Coal. Whitehaven will assume operating control of the Daunia and Blackwater mines on completion of the sale, which is expected to occur in Q4 FY24. Whitehaven will provide an offer of employment to each employee directly supporting the Blackwater and Daunia mines.
