Job title: Planning Analytics Developer

Location: UK BAE Systems sites, offering flexible and remote working

Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on experience and skills

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering reliable, scalable, and efficient IBM Cognos Planning Analytics solutions by managing all phases of the software development life cycle, including business analysis, requirements gathering, modelling & design, development, testing, deployment, integration, documentation and through life support
  • Maintaining and supporting the existing Planning Analytics models and evolve them through the defined change management process to keep pace with a dynamic and changing business environment and the latest technology upgrades
  • Supporting the business ‘Planning Analytics Champions’ within the business and the wider user community by providing training, best practice and Planning Analytics knowledge transfer to empower them to leverage the information potential of the underlying models and alleviate cumbersome manual processes
  • Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and drive innovation and the adoption of Planning Analytics where appropriate
  • Supporting dimension management, metadata design/maintenance, ETL and interface development, and data validation processes

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

Comprehensive/extensive years’ experience planning developing analytics models

Extensive knowledge/experience of Cognos Planning Analytics and experience developing end-to-end analytics solutions, including system configuration, model building, data security, and reporting

Desirable:

Qualification in planning analytics

Experience within the finance function and understanding of finance processes or hold a relevant finance qualification

The Planning Analytics team:

The team strives to understand the needs of the business, to tease out their information requirements and the data required to fulfil it. They transform this insight into technical solutions that allow the business to report financial and non-financial information to various stakeholders thereby allowing the business to make swift, informed decisions.

Current Planning Analytics models cover the Monthly Management Reporting, the Integrated Business Plan, Resource Planning and Project Review cycles. They provide the business with tools to monitor and report financial performance at an enterprise and project level and enable users to prepare, update and consolidate budgets, plans and forecasts.
