Job title: Principal Engineer – Support Engineering (RCM)

Location: Barrow in Furness, Brough, Filton or Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Producing Candidate Items Lists (CILs)
  • Researching information on the candidate items and producing the RCM Operating Context
  • Conducting Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Using WinUMMS to populating Toolkit (TLK) files with the results of the analysis
  • Chairing validation reviews of the RCM output
  • Conducting reviews of other engineer's work
  • Acting as the technical expert, providing clarity on the process or methodology during the RCM process
  • Initiating amendments to maintenance as a result of design change and maintainer feedback
  • Assisting with Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) and Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA)
  • Assisting the Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) Team in the production of Maintenance Task Instructions (MTIs)
  • Liaising with internal and external organisations in order to undertake RCM tasking
  • Observing all policies and processes, including DEFSTAN 00-045 and BR1313A

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Technician or engineer with a maintenance background and good problem-solving skills
  • IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • The ability to collaborate with the Customer, and multiple internal and external stakeholders

Desirable:

  • CEng/IEng accredited with bachelor's degree or equivalent engineering experience
  • Previous Submarine and/or Combat System experience

The Support Engineering team:

The Support Engineering organisation is central to ensuring a safe, defensible, and justifiable maintenance solution is available for all equipment installed on submarines in build, including the Astute Class, the Dreadnought Class, and the Astute Class replacement. This often extends to conducting work for the operational platforms of the Astute and Vanguard Classes.
