PROCUREMENT DIRECTOR
Location: Rochester
Salary: Up to £90k depending on experience, with an attractive monthly car allowance package
What you’ll be doing:
- Management of the site’s direct material spend of c. £80m p.a.
- Leadership and development of the Procurement and Technical Supply Chain teams on site.
- Approval of sub-contract and material spend within delegated authority limits.
- Approval of material estimates in support of the business winning process.
- Leading and developing key supplier relationships at a senior level.
- Achievement of direct material and procurement labour budgets across development, production and support programmes.
- Availability of all direct material on time, to cost and to the right quality to meet all manufacturing requirements.
- Sub-contract management of supplier non-recurring development activities to meet programme requirements.
- Development and delivery of a functional strategy to ensure ongoing team and supply chain performance improvement.
- Putting in place material strategies that support the site’s long term business objectives.
- Procedural compliance in accordance with the site’s quality management system.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- We would expect the successful candidate to be able to demonstrate procurement, operational or programme management leadership experience in an equally challenging technical environment.
- This is a functional leadership role responsible for the management of a global supply chain supporting some of the most technically challenging avionic product development and production programmes in the world.
- Ability to influence and provide business direction outside of your immediate hierarchy.
- Ability to lead and motivate a large functional team (70+ people) to deliver business needs.
- Ability to critically analyse your own and your team’s performance to identify opportunities for, and to deliver improvement.
Desirable:
- Ability to build and maintain influential and mutually beneficial relationships at all levels within the business and its global supply chain.
- Ability to create and deliver strategies that support and enable delivery of the business plan.
- Ability to operate comfortably in a dynamic, technically challenging cross functional environment effectively balancing priorities and resources to meet all business needs and requirements.

You will join us to lead a functional team in support of our international mission to ‘protect those who protect us’. This will provide you an opportunity to determine and drive procurement & supply chain management strategy in a growing business supporting some of the world’s largest defence procurement programmes. You will also lead and develop senior level business relationships, managing a global supply chain developing and producing world class, advanced technology products.
