As the Australia Legal Lead (Director, Senior Legal Counsel), you will be responsible for leading the delivery of a comprehensive in-house legal services that supports the business in meeting business goals while ensuring all areas of risk and compliance are managed.You will work with business line management, business development executives,contractcoordinators, internal business units andotherfunctionsonalllegalmatters related to the business.


Key Role Responsibilities

Day-to-day you will:

Support the Australian Leadership Team in managing business activities to meet business goals; including strategising with Avanade executives regarding legal issues that affect the company.

Provide thought leadership and strategic oversight for large, complex commercial transactions including:

oClarifying and balancing risk and reward in relation to the service offerings and individual client arrangements and mitigating risk to protect the company's assets and profitability.

oStructure, review, draft and, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, negotiate complex commercial arrangements, especially master service agreements and client engagement agreements as well as related documents.

oProvide general legal advice and guidance to other business units including Operations, Human Resources, Finance, Sales and Marketing.

Proactively manage and ensure all corporate compliance and company secretarial obligations are met for the business.

Resolve issues and disputes, minimize potential for litigation and foster protection of Avanade’s reputation.

Actively participate in global legal initiatives, develop and present training initiatives for the benefit of the global legal team and the business.

Lead, manage and develop the Australian legal team.

Skills and Capability Requirements

Your technical skills include:

Extensive experience in structuring, negotiating, drafting and reviewing commercial arrangements, including complicated technology consulting agreements.

Demonstrated business/commercial acumen including the ability to draft with precision, understand and negotiate complex pricing constructs.

Detailed knowledge of contract law and general business law.

Experienced in industrial relations and handling employee issues; including ability to conduct workplace investigations and Fair Work applications.

Positive experience working within a hierarchy and corporate multinational matrix both live and virtually across time zones.

Up-to-date working knowledge of Microsoft products.


Your non-technical skills will include:

Proven ability to meet deadlines on short time frames and under pressure with the ability to set and adjust priorities quickly.

Strong time management, prioritisation and organizational skills.

Ability to work as a member of a team in an intense, fast-paced environment.

About You:

You hold a valid licence to practice in Australia, a legal degree and are qualified to provide in-house legal services to Australia.

Youhaveabout15+yearsof broadexperienceincommercialandtransactionalmatters, including intechnologyandconsulting,inalawfirmandfast-pacedcorporatemultinationallegalgroup environments and possess 5+ years of Management Experience.
