Why Aurelia Metals?

Aurelia Metals is an Australian gold and base metals mining and exploration company operating in the Cobar Basin, NSW. We own and operate two underground mines and a processing facility, with a strong focus on growth, inclusion, safety, and innovation.

• Peak Operation – Located near Cobar, featuring polymetallic underground ore bodies and an 800ktpa processing plant.
• Federation Deposit – A high-grade zinc, lead, and gold deposit near Nymagee, NSW.

You will be based at either our Peak or Federation mine for the duration of the program.

Program Details

• Duration: 12 weeks over the summer break (November to February)
• Roster: 4/3 – 12-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday
• Christmas Break: Students return home during the Christmas period
• Location: On-site at Peak or Federation mine
• Travel: Initial flights provided from Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney
• Residency: Must remain in Cobar for the duration of the program (excluding the Christmas break)

What You’ll Be Doing

As a vacation student, you will:

• Work alongside skilled professionals on meaningful, hands-on projects
• Grow your technical knowledge and practical experience in your chosen field
• Participate in training and development sessions
• Gain insight into real-world mining operations and best-practice safety culture

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from students who are:

• Currently enrolled in a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Mining Engineering, Geology, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, OHS)
• Australian citizens or permanent residents
• Holders of a current and valid driver’s licence
• Willing and able to reside in Cobar, NSW for the program period
• Great communicators, team players, and eager to learn
