About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent of Environment, Community & Approvals, the Environment Advisor is responsible for ensuring that the Hera – Federation Mine operation complies with all environmental legislation, policies, and regulatory standards. This role also involves developing and implementing policies that promote the company’s interests with stakeholders, including the local community and government.

Roster: 8/6 (Dayshift only)

Location: Federation Mine - Nymagee NSW

Travel Options: Resident, DIDO & FIFO

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive corporate environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Conduct audits and proactively identify risks.
  • Manage site environmental data and statutory reporting (e.g., Annual Review, NGERS/NPI, EPA Annual Return).
  • Oversee environmental monitoring equipment and calibration.
  • Coordinate environmental inspections across departments.
  • Provide strategic environmental advice to leadership.
  • Lead environmental impact management, including waste, recycling, and pest control.

Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, management, or engineering.
  • 1–2 years of environmental experience in mining, resources, heavy industry, or construction.
  • NSW mine site or heavy industry experience preferred.
  • Strong interest in environmental and sustainability data management.
  • Proficiency in QGIS, ESDAT, and INX software.
  • Current 'C' Class driver’s license.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and optimize environmental performance.
  • Experience liaising with clients, stakeholders, and government bodies.
