This is an opportunity to join the Oncology Bioscience group in Cambridge as a laboratory based in vitro bioscientist. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Research Scientist (SRS) ideally with scientific and technical knowledge in Ras cancer biology. Working within a multidiscipline team you will play a pivotal role in supporting progression of Oncology drug discovery projects through delivering robust and high-quality preclinical data. You should have a background in Oncology, a good knowledge of cellular signalling pathways in cancer and a strong passion for experimental work & delivering data from the laboratory.

What you'll do

  • Deliver high quality in vitro data according to the study plan as agreed with the team leader or project supervisor

  • Provide interpretation of experimental data, identifying innovative solutions to problems and putting forward plans for further experiments

  • Communicate experimental data and key findings in a clear and concise manner to project teams

  • Generate and maintain clear experimental records

  • Maintain an awareness of current developments in the literature to support projects, bring forward new target ideas or new technologies / assay methods

  • Actively drive personal development within Oncology Bioscience, independently seeing opportunities where relevant.

Essential for the role

  • Degree and PhD in a biological science with relevant lab-based experience

  • Evidence of strong technical and experimental ability to deliver data from the lab

  • Expertise in mammalian cell tissue culture techniques including cell line maintenance, transfection, transduction, CRISPR gene editing and stable cell line generation

  • Experienced in a range of in vitro cell based mechanistic techniques and assays including cellular proliferation and survival assays, flow cytometry and high-content imaging

  • Expertise in a range of molecular biological techniques including molecular cloning, isolation and analysis of nucleic acids and proteins

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Positive and team player with willingness to improve and learn new skills

  • Passion for experimental work with a desire to pursue a career from the lab

  • Good understanding of cancer cell biology

Desirable for the role

  • Scientific and technical knowledge in Ras cancer biology

  • Lab-based drug discovery experience in academic or pharmaceutical company setting

  • An understanding of the drug discovery process
