Our Global and Market Access and Pricing (GMAP) team is committed to unlocking access to a life without limits. We do this by leading and shaping the adoption of value-based access in the healthcare ecosystem, using meaningful evidence to demonstrate value and delivering timely, sustainable patient access.
This role will take the lead in owning and running the access and IVS environmental trend analysis. This will require you to develop, maintain and disseminate key environmental and access trends as well as relevant payer pricing and reimbursement needs and insights in key markets.
To do this effectively you will be required to keep abreast of trends and maintain a current and forward-looking perspective of environmental changes and their implications for the BBU portfolio and our opportunities to develop and assess potential Pricing and Market Access (P&MA) solutions.
Working with a broad range of partners and in collaboration with our OMAP (Oncology) pricing and market access team, be responsible for the development of differentiating and innovative P&MA strategies/solutions to transform healthcare delivery by anticipating the payer environment changes across the globe and considering the evolution of our science.
Your deliverables will reflect the vital innovative thinking and creativity to be best-in-class in meeting the challenges of a rapidly evolving global payer landscape and satisfying all AstraZeneca legal & compliance requirements.
This position is considered an internal guide and advocate for IVS (value-based agreements) approaches and leading a dedicated IVS centre of excellence. You will also play a leading role in identifying collaboration opportunities across our wider enterprise and other cross-functional/department members and markets.
Main duties & responsibilities:
Develop, curate and disseminate high quality and up-to-date healthcare and access trend insights and analysis. Leverage this insight to help identify need, opportunity and design approach for IVS constructs and innovative partnerships.
Work cross functionally to provide innovative, relevant and sustainable P&MA solutions and collaborate with regional colleagues priority markets to localize these solutions.
Initiate and run a Centre of Excellence for IVS in collaboration with the OMAP IVS team to ensure alignment and best practice sharing
Act as an externally facing IVS subject matter authority, identifying and speaking at conferences and congresses to drive willingness to, and adoption of IVS constructs.
Where appropriately aligning to clear business and patient access objectives, partner with global and local colleagues to investigate, identify and introduce innovative access partnerships that have the potential to span multiple therapy areas or business units. Engage with established and emerging external organisations that share our appetite for innovation and partnership to drive health outcomes and improve the patient experience.
Lead and deliver key cross/above brand strategic projects to progress IVS & overall market access strategy (e.g., future of digital solutions for IVS; data access strategy, etc)
Essential Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science, business, economics or political sciences/public policy
Experience developing and driving Outcomes-based Agreements and other innovative payer contracts
Experience in a MC in a commercial strategy function and/or customer facing with payers, e.g., managed markets brand director, business development director, head of pricing/access
Track record of delivery in the payer area, or in a commercial function either in terms of strategy or in influencing payer decision making
Relevant drug development and/or commercialization experience within the pharmaceutical/medical industry
Experience working with clinicians, pharmacists and payers on evidence-based customer solutions, e.g., through working with local payers in EU or commercial customers in the US
Experience in communicating and negotiating product listing/reimbursement agreements with national, regional and or local payers
Desirable Requirements
Postgraduate qualification in biomedical science, business administration, finance, or economics
Payer, HTA, public health, or health policy experience
Experience constructing payer value stories and incorporating these into TPPs and development programs
