About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Construction/Site Manager to work within the capital projects team at our Macclesfield Campus. The Campus is a crucial part of AstraZeneca’s UK Operation and the 2nd largest operational site within the company’s global network. It is approx. 100 acres with around 4500 people working on site. Facility Management are one of the main teams on site and part of this team is Campus Project Solutions (CPS), who deliver engineering capital projects for all the campus residents.
Typically, the team deliver around 60 projects a year ranging in value from £10k’s up to £10M. The team consists of Engineering Leadership, Project Managers and Project Engineers, Project Control, Validation and Commissioning and Construction Management and Supervision. The CPS team is approximately 50 direct colleagues and up to 150 people in our partner and term supplier organisations who we collaborate closely with and all are dedicated to delivering the best possible outcome for our customers exceeding key Time, Cost and Quality performance.
This is an exciting role that will require you to work multi-functionally and engage with people from different areas of the business and functions. You’ll need to have an extensive knowledge of construction safety legislation and procedures, and experience of leading major construction projects.
What you'll do
As a Construction/Site Manager you will respond to the CPS Construction lead and implement the UK Construction Management Strategy to deliver the construction phase of projects under your control, ensuring effective management of SHE, cost, and quality. Throughout, you will ensure compliance with national statutory requirements and AZ standards and procedures for construction.
You will work with the Macclesfield Construction SHE Lead to drive continuous improvements in construction delivery, using UK wide examples of best practice whilst assisting in the development and implementation of the Campus Construction Improvement Plan.
Collaborating with our other Construction Managers and Supervisors, you will ensure construction resource is appropriately assigned to projects within the CPS project portfolio and engaged to support wider project activities across the site.
On behalf of AstraZeneca CPS projects, you will discharge CDM 2015 Principal Contractor duties and assist & advise Project Managers through the design and construction phases of the CDM risk assessment. You’ll ensure SHE is proactively handled on your projects to reduce the likelihood of accidents and incidents – reporting and investigating any incidents to prevent re-occurrence.
Essential Requirements
Strong communication and influencing skills
Extensive knowledge of implementing CDM 2015
Construction project experience (preferably in Pharma or Bio projects)
Detailed understanding of SHE standards, GxP and other regulatory guidance
Knowledge of methods, techniques and procedures within different engineering disciplines
Awareness of project management processes
Understanding of contract and commercial agreements.
Desirable Requirements
Bachelors degree, or equivalent, in a construction or engineering subject
Professional accreditation with a recognised Construction or Engineering Institution
APM, PMI, PRINCE2, or equivalent, qualification as a project practitioner
Specialism in one functional engineering capability
Knowledge of AstraZeneca business
Knowledge of pharmaceutical, qualification/validation and pharmaceutical processes
