We are now seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join our team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, this role will be an 8/5 4/4 FIFO roster to Sunrise Dam, with flights from Perth.

Accountable to the Senior Safety Advisor, this role is responsible for providing advice, support and services to the various Site Departments as required in the application of WHS practices.

The main tasks of the roles include:

  • Providing a high degree of safety and health support and advice to the operational departments of the site including Mining- Underground, Mining – Open Pit, Processing, Mobile Maintenance, Fixed Plant Maintenance, Geology and Capital Projects
  • Demonstrate safety leadership and improve the safety culture through developing line capability in delivering their safety accountabilities
  • Continually review, propose and where approved, contribute to the development of improved safety systems and procedures to optimise safety for life of mine
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to supervisors, employees and contractors in all areas of safety, behavioural and culture change, and leadership development
  • Coordinate DMIRS communication via SRS
  • Monitor action recording and close out from incidents, investigations, audits, planned inspections, safety meetings and conduct action verification to the required standard
  • Complete internal OHS audits and participate in OHS internal /external audits
  • Lead the safety interaction process for site
  • Assist with the overall implementation of safety systems, strategies & initiatives
  • Providing facilitation, assistance and guidance in incident investigations, HSE meetings, safety inspections of equipment and work practices on the site
  • Assist in maintaining the HSE management systems on site
  • Participate in high level incidents and accident investigations as required and monitor incident reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with OHS regulations as well as company policies and procedures
  • Leading, facilitating and participating in risk management processes for the Mine Site
  • Assist in drug and alcohol testing

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in safety
  • Strong organisation and computer literacy
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an OHS practitioner in the mining industry
  • Working knowledge of the Mines Safety Inspection Act and Regulations
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in HSE management systems
  • Qualification in incident investigation such as ICAM/Taproot
  • Current "C" Class Western Australian drivers licence or equivalent
  • A 'can do' attitude with a strong desire to succeed in the role and a passion for health, safety, environment and community
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and engagement skills
  • Experience in document development
  • Understanding of process safety management
  • Experience in delivering safety training
  • Authorised drug collection officer qualification
  • Internal auditor qualification
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment qualification
  • Ability to pass a National Police Check
  • Existing and ongoing Permanent working rights (Mandatory)
