Owned by AngloGold Ashanti Australia Ltd (70% and manager) and Regis Resources Ltd (30%), Tropicana produces approximately 450,000 ounces annually. The Tropicana operation comprises a significant open pit mine with a 6 year life as well as the newly developed the Boston Shaker underground. The Boston Shaker underground has a mine life of 7 years with significant exploration upside being realised with a large brownfields drilling budget to support Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve growth creating an exciting future. Coupled with this, working at Tropicana provides the opportunity to work with a gold mining major on a stable, long life and well managed operation.

We are now seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Underground Mining team based at the Tropicana Gold Mine.

Accountable to the Alternate Underground Manager, and working in the Tropicana Mining Alliance, this role is accountable for maintaining an adequate supply of broken ore stocks by producing drill designs and blast plans. This permanent role is FIFO 8/6 from Perth and offers an attractive salary package and benefits including private health insurance and annual performance bonus.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

• Be an active safety leader in line with the company’s values, policies and procedures
• Design of longhole drill plans
• Preparation of blast plans
• Design of raisebore holes
• Be a leader of the Critical Risk Controls
• Ability to support day to day mining operations with drill and blast design and scheduling
• Preparation of weekly mining plans

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A tertiary Mining Engineering Qualification
• Experience in underground mine design software (Deswik)
• Experience with electronic blasting systems (DigiShot)
• Practical underground mining experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office software
• Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
• Current “C” class drivers licence (Manual)
• Hold a valid WA Dangerous Goods Security Card
• A National Police Clearance
