About the job

Alcoa’s Australian operations represent one of the world’s largest integrated bauxite mining, alumina refining and aluminium smelting systems.

The Financial Reporting Accountant reports to the Financial Accounting & Reporting Manager and is an integral part of the Corporate Finance team that provides a combination of financial and managerial accounting expertise to support the Australian region.

The role is responsible for reporting to our major shareholder which involves AWAC monthly reporting, AWAC cash flows and statutory reporting requirements.

The Financial Reporting Accountant will be required to:

• Provide monthly and quarterly reporting to Executive Management (Global, Local & Shareholders).

• Assist in the preparation of the annual statutory accounts.

• Provide business advice and accounting support for new technology projects and ventures.

• Liaise with external auditors on quarterly and annual audit requirements.

• Assist with contract reviews and the preparation of position papers for a broad range of accounting related issues.

• Support the Senior Financial Accountant by assisting in any ad-hoc financial accounting matters.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

• Tertiary qualifications in Commerce – majoring in Finance and / or Accounting coupled with a CPA or CA.

• Previous experience working at a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm.

• Relevant experience within a similar role and industry is highly desirable.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to use your initiative and problem solve.

• Strong analytical skills and experience in applying these to various business scenarios as well as advanced excel skills.

• An ability to work in teams and interact effectively with local and overseas finance teams.
