We are seeking an experienced Mine Manager to drive operations across mine development, production and rehabilitation at our Huntly Bauxite Mine in the Peel Region. Working across our mine site near Banksiadale and our mining hub in Pinjarra, you will report into the WA Manager of Mines (GM), where you will be expected to maintain the highest standards of safety, environmental management, cost efficiency and strategic optimisation.
Huntly is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying bauxite ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra and Kwinana alumina refineries producing about 27 million tonnes of bauxite per year. Located in Western Australia’s Northern Jarrah Forest, you will ensure that mining and rehabilitation activities are undertaken to the highest standards and continue to meet evolving stakeholder expectations.
Key responsibilities include:
Accountable for both the strategic and tactical responses in the areas of control and improvement.
Responsible for establishing a Business Plan for the mining operation in conjunction with its customers.
Support the development of strategies for continuous improvement and innovation initiatives that will generate positive business outcomes, improve production and safety across the site.
Oversee the budgeting and annual planning process for the site ensuring that all operational and capital needs are adequately met in line with strategic plans.
Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders including government, community groups and neighbours.
Demonstrate commitment to safety, health, and environmental policies, regulations, and systems by ensuring that these standards are implemented, communicated, and complied with by all.
Responsible for the overall delivery of site-specific projects, including leading and engaging stakeholders to implement and manage agreed performance and operating strategies.
Lead and coach the Huntly leadership team, developing robust succession plans, and as serve as support and mentor for others.
Fulfill the functions of a Senior Site Executive (SSE) in accordance with the WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Tertiary qualification in mining engineering or related discipline.
Demonstrated experience managing and operating large open pit mines
Proven ability to develop, influence and lead a large team, and to allocate and manage resources effectively.
Ability to drive and manage effective change to make continuous improvements.
A strong commitment to safety, health, environment, people, community, and workplace diversity.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong business acumen with demonstrated business planning and high-level financial knowledge.
An ability to clearly communicate strategy and engage the workforce across all levels to motivate, influence and drive positive outcomes for the site.
Able to meet eligibility criteria for appointment as Senior Site Executive (SSE)
