About the job
An incredible opportunity for a passionate leader with expertise in Mining and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to join our global Information Technology & Automation Solutions (ITAS) group and support in shaping the future of Alcoa’s global bauxite mining operations.
As the ITAS Mining Solutions Manager, you will effectively manage and collaborate with a talented team of professional MES and Information Applications Specialists towards delivering to strategic mining and operational planning objectives through the development and implementation of innovative and transformational digital solutions. In addition to leading a diverse range of global projects and priorities, your key contributions and areas of focus will be:
Leading the global mining strategies for the MES, Automation and digital innovation areas and providing specialist advice for all mining operations and growth projects for the full life cycle of applications.
Co-ordinating and planning overall program of work, projects and resources over the MES, information application function, including negotiation of priorities with global customers.
Facilitating the delivery of the necessary infrastructure, enabling the execution of the mining global strategic roadmap.
Maintaining alert with latest digital technologies including their developments and understanding of potential future directions and participates in defining and executing these strategies.
Building effective working relationships with internal and external technical service providers to communicate technical specifications, issues, and activities to ensure they meet user requirements.
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Degree qualified in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar with experience in delivering services to Mining or heavy industry in business application development.
Practical experience in delivery of MES and information application services in bauxite mining or other mining facilities.
Working knowledge of mining applications such as Hexagon Minesight & Jigsaw, AVEVA PI & AMPLA, ESRI ArcGIS and High Precision GPS technologies.
A strategic mindset with an innovative approach to developing unique ideas and delivering them into scalable digital solutions that will make an impact.
Demonstrated skills in Spatial Data subscription, cloud tools and integration technologies with practical experience in application lifecycle planning and solution architecture.
Strong commercial acumen, experience in reviewing technical solution proposals and working within a structured project management environment.
Sound communication skills with a passion for collaboration and building strong connections across a diverse range of stakeholder groups, vendors, and customers.
A drive to lead, engage and inspire, embracing diversity of thinking with a global perspective.
Process improvement and customer focused with a creative approach to problem solving and skilled in change management and negotiation practices.
Flexibility to occasionally travel and work outside normal office hours may be required to collaborate with colleagues and key stakeholders.

About Alcoa’s Mining Locations
Alcoa operates four bauxite mines in Australia and South America, with two of the bauxite mines located in Western Australia (Huntly and Willowdale); and the other two located in Brazil (Juruti and Poços de Caldas).
