Reporting to the Manager – Authorised Officers, could you be our next Authorised Officer? This role will cover areas from Southern Cross Station to any of the five corridors on the network.

About the role

• Authorised Officers will be responsible for day-to-day reporting of offences under the Transport Act with a focus on anti-social behaviour.
• Respond to and assist during emergencies and public transport disruption incidents.
• Minimise issues that can affect the safe, reliable, and efficient running of V/Line services.
• Deter public order (crime and vandalism) and fare evasion offences, through having a visible presence and using your well-rounded communication & conflict resolution skills.
• Ensuring the safety of all V/Line passengers is paramount.
• Be an integral part in providing customers a high degree of service to ensure an informative, trouble-free, and safe journey.
• Respond to incidents and disruptions on the network as required.

About you

• Exceptional customer service and rapport building skills
• Proven conflict management and resolution skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in addition to problem solving abilities
• Comfortable in working rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays
• Comfortable working across the V/Line network and the possibility of being based at different locations for a period depending on operational requirements.

The successful applicant will be paid in accordance with the current V/Line Rail Operations and Administrative Agreement 2019 Trainee AO 1.1 – AO Grade 1 ($34.9243 - $46.1318). The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, probity (police) and medical check.
