About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow, Perth or Edinburgh

Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

As Corporate Tax Compliance Manager you'll be responsible for managing SSE's UK corporation tax affairs, reporting to SSE's Corporate Tax Senior Manager. Your role will include indirect supervision and development of one other team member in relation to corporate tax compliance, as well as the following key responsibilities:

- Preparing and submitting the UK corporation tax computations and returns for companies within the SSE Group. Day to day management of corporate tax affairs, such as GPA payment allocations, including reviewing corporation tax returns prepared by a Tax Accountant.

- Management of all deferred tax balances on timing differences for the consolidated group accounts. Preparation of current and deferred tax accruals and disclosure notes for inclusion in the accounts of group companies. Ownership of Country-By-Country Reporting and Corporate Interest Restriction calculations for the group.

Analysis of capital expenditure incurred by the group in order to quantify the level of capital allowances to be claimed. This is also undertaken on a forecast basis for quarterly tax payment, budgeted ETR and Group long term forecasts.

- Undertaking research and then providing advice on ad-hoc tax queries arising within the group.

- Providing input as to the tax implications of potential transactions to assist investment appraisal decisions, including assistance with group-wide M&A activity.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Qualified Chartered Accountant, or qualified Chartered Tax Adviser

- Significant post qualifying experience, gained in a ‘Big 4’ accounting practice, or an in-house team of a large corporate Group.

- Experience in preparing corporation tax computations for UK companies within a large group, using Alphatax or Onesource.

- Experience in preparing current and deferred tax accruals and accounts disclosure notes under IFRS / FRS101

- Experience in preparing capital allowances computations for UK companies.
