The Business Operations team plays a critical role in defining and driving strategic, operational and organizational improvements for Merchant Services Commercial teams and all of Shopify. As a Business Operations Lead, you will fully immerse yourself in structured problem solving and data analysis, and then zoom out to develop compelling, synthesized insights and recommendations. You will work with senior product and business leaders on critical problems to influence the Commercial strategy, prioritization and planning. You will do so by understanding and monitoring trends driving our industry, identifying customer needs, adding structure to ambiguous problems, and framing key decisions for our leaders. You will use storytelling skills to persuasively communicate your recommendations to leadership and mobilize teams towards execution. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across product, finance, data science.
About the role
We’re looking for a strategic, passionate, and dedicated Business Operations Lead, Partnerships to join our Business Operations Team. This role will own our Global Partnerships strategy, investment and operational planning, cross regional business operations alignment, and recurring business reviews, among other responsibilities.
Shopify’s Market Operations organization aligns the efforts of our Sales, Marketing and Partnership teams to power Shopify’s revenue flywheel. Its teams design scalable and flexible systems, processes, and tools that function as the connective tissue across Shopify, to improve the effectiveness of leaders and frontline teams, and ultimately maximize merchant success.
Responsibilities
- Act as a business partner to our VP, Partnerships, and develop holistic Global MSC Partnership strategies
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on potential commercial growth strategies, in close collaboration with Partnership Leads
- Own the Global Partnerships investment & operational plan. You will work with leadership to develop quarterly goals & objectives, define metrics, and assess resourcing/financial investment needs and own the progress to plan.
- Define means to aggregate regional operational plans to ensure one holistic plan for Global Partnerships
- Own the connectivity across all Global Partnership Regional Business Operations teams, ensuring no duplication of efforts occur, regular syncs are conducted, and that all business plans ladders up to the Global Partnerships Operational Plan
- Provide performance updates to the Shopify Partnership Craft SLT on behalf of the Global MSC Partnership Org
- Partner with Shopify Partnership craft SLT to vocalize commercial partnership craft nuance and craft and act as a liaison to other partnership teams at Shopify.
- Own all Global Partnership Monthly Cadences (hosting meetings, frameworks, gathering content, follow ups, etc) and monthly asynchronous communication across various teams.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant Business Operations work experience, preferably in SaaS-based or technology companies
- Experience with implementing and supporting Salesforce, Marketo, and other third-party tools including Salesoft/Outreach, Gong, ChiliPiper, and Troops
- Ability to organize complex objectives into individual related tasks and measurable deliverables.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience in a fast, dynamic, and constantly-changing environment.
- Great interpersonal skills. You have the ability to communicate across departments, and can work with all levels of different stakeholders, both cross-functionally and globally
- Proven ability to create strategy and vision, as well as manage the execution of work
- Exceptional business judgment, analytical thinking, problem-solving and relationship-building skills
- A desire to work in an ambiguous environment, have a builder mindset
