Main Purpose of Job

To effectively and efficiently support the day to day depot operations within the transport department, ensuring customer expectations are achieved whilst maintaining health and safety standards and supporting the transport department

Main Tasks of Job

  • Under instruction from Transport Operations set up containers on available trailers.
  • Regular trailer park yard checks (Trailer numbers, trucks and Container ID) to be advised to the Transport Operations.
  • Carry out regular trailer park yard checks (Trailer numbers, trucks and Container ID) to be advised to the Transport Operations.
  • Assist in vehicle management and throughput, to ensure minimum time in the yard.
  • Ensuring the effective and efficient use of all equipment and drivers, adhering to Health & Safety procedures, employment law standard and company policy at all times.
  • Facilitate close working relationships between depot departments and shifts. (Transport/ Workshop/Container Yard)
  • With a hand’s on approach maintain high standards of good housekeeping within the Transport Yard and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure (if required) areas are gritted and cleared to prevent slips, trips and falls.
  • Gain basic knowledge of Tops / PDS and use to assist in the Yard operation.
  • Ensure CCTV is monitored throughout the shift
  • Ensure traffic flow in and out of the yard
  • Assist yard operations as necessary
  • Ensure all incidents are logged and reported correctly
  • Ensure all visitors are greeted correctly, show the correct identification and are signed into and out of the site
  • Take delivery of fuel on site
  • Ensure post delivered to site is given to appropriate person
  • Issue vehicle keys to drivers, keeping a log of those issued and returned
  • Communicate effectively with all visitors, customers, and all employees
  • Communicate accurate information on time as required
  • Maintain high standards of good housekeeping
  • Maintain health and safety standards
