Brief Description
Assist the Section Manager in the inspection, maintenance and renewal of assets to standards and within agreed resource levels, budget and unit cost measures. Supervise the delivery of work and undertake specific inspections as required. Assist in the management of staff as directed.
About the role (External)
Assisting an Infrastructure Maintenance Section Manager with the inspection, maintenance and renewal of assets, you'll supervise the delivery of associated work and help with the management of staff. It's an excellent opportunity to use all of your specialist knowledge while developing valuable leadership skills. It's also an extremely varied role.
We'll look to you to undertake inspections, and prepare work and resource specifications and method statements. Providing accurate and detailed information, you'll keep a range of systems, databases and records fully up-to-date. Checking the quality of work and making sure assets are compliant to exacting standards, you'll enjoy the scope to identify and propose asset renewal work. You'll also allocate resources to works, and oversee both the quality of people's work and their welfare at work. As well as enhancing your own skills, you'll help others with their development. Crucially, you will champion the highest standards of safety in every aspect of your team's work.
Essential Criteria
Experience of directing and supervising worksites and the safe and efficient delivery of work
Knowledge of processes for planning and organising work and resources
Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting and renewal techniques
Able to coach, influence and develop others
Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Comfortable working shifts including days, nights and weekends
Desirable Criteria
Hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained an appropriate level of knowledge through equivalent relevant experience
Awareness of cost and waste control techniques
Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need
This role involves days, nights and weekend working, and is a safety critical role so subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment.
