The Payments Industry and Development team has its overall purpose in achieving the successful development and delivery of the Group’s Payment Strategy. It has roles to play both internally and externally to build outstanding customer payment propositions. Externally, the business unit is accountable for leading the Bank’s engagement with the UK and cross-border payments schemes and payments regulators for the benefit of customers.

The iteration and renewal of the strategy will require considerable teamwork across the Group to both progress as well as to identify new strategic opportunities and partnerships. You will collaborate to explore a variety of opportunities and developing business cases including exploring commercial partnerships. The role will also manage the crafting of internal and external communications briefs, and sourcing and articulating market insights for partners and clients.

Internally, the business area is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that legal, regulatory and mandatory change is identified and landed well within the organisation. Ensuring compliance to new requirements both as a foundation for future customer propositions as well as modernisation and moving the Groups capability forward
  • The design and delivery of the Groups future scalable payments platforms for our partners in Retail and Commercial
  • Providing strategic and architectural insight to inform and shape solution design and decision making alongside governance management. Ensuring designs deliver customer centric outcomes aligned to payment’s policy, strategy and risk appetite.
  • Management of intraday payments liquidity and settlement risk, to facilitate the Group’s participation across payments systems, schemes and its global network of bank relationships.
  • Working closely with customer facing teams across the Group, particularly with our partners in Financial Services, Corporate & Institutional Coverage to on-board new business and support our payment proposition for clients.

What would you be doing?

  • Manage the Payments commitment to the Group Payments Strategy.
  • Develop and drive the partnership and payments strategy for LBG’s existing or upcoming payments propositions, working in close collaboration with Retail, Commercial Banking and CIO colleagues to align with business objectives
  • Identify and effectively analyse new opportunities for LBG, making recommendations to relevant decision makers and cross-functional partners
  • Manage negotiations with partners, alongside business owners, to build new commercial models to enable new product and proposition launches or support new business strategies
  • Provide technical, consultative and intellectual payments expertise and leadership both within Lloyds Banking Group and the wider payments industry
  • Develop top quality materials to communicate the findings and recommendations of the work in a concise, coherent and compelling narrative

About you

You'll have proven years' experience in payments product and/or strategy development including statistical analysis, modelling and business case development with experience in developing new propositional opportunities through commercial partnerships – either supplier or acquisition.

You also have an understanding of the IT and payments landscape, upcoming change and experience of working within, or collaboratively with, corporate development teams on transactions. Additionally you'll possess product instincts and a track record of success working effectively and independently across functions to deliver against deadlines.
