Design Assistant - Womenswear
The Role
The primary of this role is to work collaboratively with the designer and design team to assist with day to day roles & responsibilities. Support the designer to focus on driving the handwriting, taste levels and product desirability of the department to exceed customer expectations and grow incremental sales.
Key Responsibilities
Our Design team, in partnership with our Buyers, Planners and global sourcing team are critical to delivering our business strategy and the success of Kmart which has a reputation for being an amazing place to work and grow.
- Working with the designer to develop ranges.
- Assist the designer to interpret trends to ensure consistent brand handwriting.
- Create accurate technical specification drawings and production art
- Style briefs / Tech packs/DSS
- Range boards / plans and supporting ahead of TPR’s
- Trend / graphic / colour research
- Trend Steer / deep dives / must haves
- Collating / pulling together trend boards
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following critical skills and experience.
- Degree in Fashion Design or similar
- Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with key stakeholders
- Ability to work across all of Apparel departments
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to create accurate technical specification drawings or the ability to learn on the job quickly
- Ability to learn new skills quickly
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build amazing relationships; and
- Ability to multi task.
- Proficient in Adobe Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop
- Proficient computer literacy skills including competency with Microsoft Office
