Python Software Engineer – Athena Core Research Platform – Vice President

As a Senior Software Engineering (Vice President), your mission is to help lead our team of innovators and technologists toward creating next-level solutions that improve the way our business is run. Your deep knowledge of design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming will help your team raise their game, meeting your standards, as well as satisfying both business and functional requirements. Your expertise in various technology domains will be counted on to set strategic direction and solve complex and mission critical problems, internally and externally. This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

-BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

-Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines

-Keen understanding of financial control and budget management

-Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals

-Has interest in building platforms and tools for a large, demanding user base.

-Can write reliable, maintainable and scalable code

-Can innovate, experiment and recover from taking a wrong direction

-Comfortable in interacting, driving and influencing technologists, designs and overall project direction

-Knowledge of data intensive applications, real time and distributed systems and cloud based services

-Python and python-based analytics and ML libraries; familiarity with web technologies

-Some experience with financial applications is preferred, but not required

-Fast learner with ability to work independently.

Athena Research Platform provides Quants, Data Scientist and Front Office Analysts with modern, consistent set of tools, libraries, models, visualization environments and curated data access. The platform currently serves over a thousand users across multiple business lines in the Investment Bank and beyond. The Platform has a diverse technology stack containing both proprietary and open source components. The ideal candidate would be someone equally passionate about extending the platform's technical capabilities as well as working with the users, helping them to architect solutions and solve business problems. The candidate will be working in a small team of developers, where everybody is given an opportunity and freedom to innovate, design, implement and influence the platform's direction.

The hiring manager for this job opening would welcome a conversation about flexible working. This could range from ad hoc flexibility in a full time position, to a more formal Flexible Work Arrangement.

All internal moves will normally take place on the same grade and same salary. Salaries are reviewed annually in February. Exceptions to the rule regarding transfer on current salary may include a move between geographic locations.
