Role Details

  • You will work an average of 35 hours per week, and shifts are over a 24-hour period. This position will require you to work a combination of shifts which includes early starts, late finishes, weekend, and bank holiday working
  • Please note that applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Full uniform will be provided to ensure that you embrace our values as a brand
  • The successful colleague will be required to attend a medical, as all offers are subject to passing a safety critical medical.
  • You must live within a reasonable distance to the depot you are applying for.
  • GE progression rate: £34,480, £35,569
  • Please note that you will not be able to take annual leave in the first six months of training.

About the Role

Greater Anglia is looking for dedicated Train Drivers to join our dynamic team. If you’re ready for a rewarding career that goes beyond the typical 9-5, we want to hear from you! Based at our Colchester Depot you will cover a wide variety of duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate trains in a safe and efficient manner
  • Prepare, marshal, and dispose of vehicles
  • Coupling and uncoupling of trains
  • Re-marshalling trains as needed
  • Drive within depot area
  • Perform shunting operations
  • Report any irregularities or faults
  • Address movement problems promptly

We’re Looking For Candidates Who:

  • Have a friendly, approachable demeanor with the ability to communicate effectively dealing with both customers and colleagues alike
  • Are calm under pressure, able to think on their feet, and able to handle various situations with the willingness to accept the high level of responsibility associated with the role
  • Possess a “can-do” attitude with the ability to work well on their own
  • A problem solver, as the role will encounter many different situations, whilst always maintaining integrity.
  • Possess solid concentration skills which is highly required for this role.
