Technician A - Ipswich VMF
A vacancy has arisen for a Technician, Grade A with Freightliner Ltd at our Ipswich depot. Working within a safety critical environment this role involves working to maintain all class types of locomotives.
The successful applicant will be responsible for helping to achieve team goals and objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Adhere to health & safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards
- Ensure Freightliner company engineering standards and procedures are applied and followed.
- Maintain, service, fault find and repair locomotives in accordance with approved maintenance plans
- Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed to company standards
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment
Requirements:
- Commitment to safe working practices
- Apprentice trained or time served, or a minimum NVQ Level 3 in engineering discipline
- Experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance activities
- Ideally possess proven fault finding skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and have a flexible approach to work and duties
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of knowledge of electrical engineering systems
- Good knowledge of mechanical engineering systems
- Competent on assessing asset condition
- Capable of carrying out repairs and maintenance
- Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Knowledge of rolling stock would be advantageous
The successful applicant should be a safety conscious and motivated self-starter, a fully versatile team member who has well established experience within a railway maintenance depot environment or a similar engineering background. A flexible approach to working hours is essential as Ipswich VMF operates a shift roster.
